Hello everyone!

My name is Andrea and I'm so excited to be joining the Gift of Mary team as a missionary. My first encounter with the struggles of our friends on the streets was on a mission trip with Christ in the City in 2024. That week in Philadelphia was challenging, joyful, and sanctifying -- a perfect reflection of the Christian life. My eyes were opened to the epidemic of loneliness that plagues our homeless population. I was particularly struck by the added layer of vulnerability that women experience on the streets. This led me to find Gift of Mary later that year and I visited soon thereafter. I immediately fell in love with the mission but ultimately decided to continue my education in Steubenville. While there, God kept calling me back to Gift of Mary through weekend visits, a mission trip, and spending Thanksgiving with the missionaries. Now He has a made a way (where I thought there was no way!) for me to serve on mission. Although I never thought I would end up being a missionary here and now, I'm grateful for what God has done and will do during this time of service. 

A lesson I learned as a member of the Legion of Mary and with Christ in the City, and one I hope to carry into my time with Gift of Mary, is that mission is better done with others. No one is meant to do life alone and our service to the poor is no exception. I would be so grateful for any of you who join me in bringing Jesus' love and presence to these beautiful women who are so often neglected by a world moving too fast to see or care for them. Your prayers and support make a difference not only in my life, but in our greater Move a Mountain Missions community and those we serve. Know of my prayers for you, may Our Lady lead you closer to Her Son's most Sacred Heart. 

Gift of Mary is a nonprofit devoted to serving homeless women in downtown Pittsburgh and leading impactful mission trips. Through practical care, community-building, and spiritual accompaniment, we walk alongside those in need and invite others to join us in this work of mercy.
